How do you study something that refuses to hold still?
Why the question matters
My whole object of study is a process. Most of the accessible instruments produce snapshots.
What I currently think
Leaning toward repeated light-touch methods across a semester rather than one heavy instrument — more like weather observation than a portrait sitting.

I kept reaching for a survey, then stopped. A number can tell me a student feels safe on Tuesday. It cannot tell me why they stopped raising their hand by November.
